I start by viewing you as a normal, healthy individual who is seeking help for important personal reasons.
My aim as a counsellor is to help you overcome these issues and to support and encourage whatever changes or adjustments are necessary.
I provide somewhere safe and confidential to talk freely. Where you can gain a clearer, more balanced view of what is troubling you.
There are a number of helpful models, approaches and pieces of theory that I can draw on, but as no two people are ever the same I will always tailor my approach to your particular needs and circumstances.
This includes the number of sessions that might be involved, which can range from just a couple, to something longer term where the issues are more deep seated. But whether short, medium or long term, we will always be working towards the ending of your choice.
We would normally work face to face on a weekly basis for an hour, although this can be varied. Frequently in longer term work the gap between sessions might increase as we approach the end. Telephone sessions can also be arranged in addition to the face to face ones.
We would periodically review our work together, allowing you to consolidate what you have learned and confirm that it is giving you what you seek.
