There are many reasons why you might be considering Counselling at the moment. Whatever they are, they probably involve things that are painful, uncertain, or confusing. There may be specific reasons like:
Or it might be something harder to pin down. Perhaps you’re feeling stuck, or lonely; or struggling to cope with things that are increasingly getting on top of you.
Whatever the cause, however unhappy, frustrated or fearful you may be, Counselling offers something that is positive and constructive. It allows you to be yourself and to talk freely about whatever is facing you, without fear of criticism or judgement. It leads to a more balanced view of things and helps you identify options and choices where previously none seemed to have existed.
It can also make you more aware of yourself and lead on to significant personal growth and development.
People often ask me "how does counselling help?" My answer is that talking to someone who is actively and objectively listening to you brings clarity and perspective. We all hold beliefs about ourselves and the world around us that that are unfounded and self-limiting. As these emerge and are explored in counselling, you can find yourself increasingly liberated from their unhelpful grip.
