Counselling & Life Coaching Service in Exeter

Personal Profile - Chris Cowen

Chris Cowen - Counsellor Over the last eight years or so I have built up a practice as a counsellor and a coach and have worked with a large number of clients over a wide range of issues.

Before that I worked in management, did voluntary work for both Amnesty International and Shelter, was a business consultant and also a care-worker for people with learning disability.

On this varied journey I’ve had many opportunities to learn at first hand how each of us is both quite unique, while sharing a common humanity. I have also witnessed our huge capacity for self-healing and growth, and believe that part of my role as a counsellor and coach is to help you connect with this powerful inner resource.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and seek to work at all times within their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I trained as a counsellor at the Iron Mill Institute in Exeter, qualifying with an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling, a course recognised and accredited by the BACP.

I am also an Associate of the Coverdale Organisation whose core values of Humanity, Discovery and Achievement have always felt very close to my own. I am indebted to them for much valuable training and coaching experience and I draw on several of their approaches in my own coaching work.

Continuing professional development is very important to me and each year I devote a significant amount of time and energy in this direction.
